Students emphasized on the fact that 'prevention is better than cure'
Jalandhar 2 February (Jaswinder Azad)- The Journalism and Mass Communication students of CT Group of Institutions staged a “Nukkad Natak” on the theme of disastrous effects of Cancer at its Shahpur Campus to celebrated National Cancer Awareness Day. The students emphasized on the fact that 'prevention is better than cure' and there is a pressing need to spread awareness about the preventive measures to be taken for the control of cancer. Students marched within the campus in a procession displaying placards inscribed with awareness slogans about the dreadful disease. The awareness regarding cancer is much required as per the data the top five cancers in men and women account for 47.2% of all cancers; these cancers can be prevented, screened for and/or detected early and treated at an early stage. This could significantly reduce the death rate from these cancers. The top five cancers in men are Lip, Oral Cavity, Lung, Stomach, Colorectum and Pharynx while in women Breast, Cervix, Colorectum, Ovary and Lip, Oral Cavity.
S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) along with Dr. Seema Arora (Principal, CTIHS) was the guest of the day. S. Charanjit Singh Channi (Chairman, CT Group of Institutions) shared the message with students that they need to change their attitude and work for the upliftment of Cancer patients.
