Jalandhar 25 July (Gurkirat Singh)- The participating students enthusiastically participated in the proceedings of 3rd day of Inspire Internship Science Camp at Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya. Hosting the stage Dr. Meena Sharma welcomed and introduced the guest of the day Dr. Amrik Singh Ahluwalia, an eminent scientist from Panjab University, Chandigarh. He addressed the budding scientists on the theme of Global Warming and Climate Change. He discussed the factors responsible for causing global warming like increase in concentration of green house gases, deforestation etc. He told about the pollution caused by Paddy straw burning. He further added that tree plantation and geo engineering can reverse the effects of global warming. Principal Prof. Dr. (Mrs.) Ajay Sareen lauded the students for showing active participation and motivated them to adopt good habits. She urged the students to create awareness among the public regarding the ill effects of pollution. She honoured Dr. Amrik Singh with a memento and a shawl. Proceeding towards the second session the students were excited to see the demonstrations presented by Mr. Jaswinder Singh, who is recipient of ‘Shiksha Ratna Award’ by Punjab Govt. along with 70 other awards in the field of science. He has converted his car into a mobile lab demonstrating about more than 82 experiments most of them using waste material. He gave demonstration on waves, optics, motion, energy etc. He also gave easy tips to memorize mathematical formulas. He displayed the working of solar energy devices, Archimedes principle and Newton and Pascal’s Law, making the things easy and simple. In this camp, for the first time ever, Science Kits were given to all the participating students for hands on practicals of science. It will help them to do science practicals at home. On this occasion, Coordinator Dr. Jitender Kumar, Dr. Neelam Sharma, Mrs. Deepshikha, Dr. Seema Marwaha, Dr. Ekta Khosla, Mrs. Saloni Sharma, Dr. Anjana Bhatia, Dr. Shaveta Chauhan, Dr. Nitika Kapoor, Mr. Harpreet Singh, Mrs. Purnima Sharma, Mrs. Asha Gupta, Mr. Sumit Sharma, Mr. Sushil Kumar, Mrs. Ramandeep and Mrs. M. Syal, Coordinator Collegiate School were also present.
